Walter Miles Woodring and Lelu Woodring first started distributing shoes and socks to those in need in mid 2023. From that successful effort, we formalized the mission by founding Street Feet Help as a nonprofit in 2024.
We recognized the dire circumstances of our local homeless population in Phoenix Arizona. Have you seen the feet of those living on the streets? Now, imagine those feet trying to walk here in Phoenix where sidewalk and asphalt temperatures can easily reach 170 degrees in the summer. That’s not far from boiling temps. Even with decent shoes, those shoes don’t last long on burning pavement. We ease their suffering.
At our core, we believe that small acts of kindness can create meaningful, lasting, changes. Our mission is to improve the lives of those experiencing homelessness, and those in need, simply by addressing an immediate and critical need: decent shoes and socks. These items might seem small, but to someone walking miles each day just to find food or shelter, they can be life-changing. Imagine a homeless child walking into school. Decent shoes and socks will make a difference in that child’s psychology and self-esteem. Let’s create a foundation of hope and support for people in need.
